June 12th, 2009 - The transition to Digital Television Broadcasting has begun.

Congress passed the Digital Television Transition and Public Safety Act of 2005 which prevents television stations from broadcasting regular analog TV signals after June 12th, 2009. Unfortunately this means the TV audio band found on many consumer electronic radios will no longer receive any television broadcasts after this date. The other bands such as AM, FM, shortwave, etc will continue to work normally and are unaffected.
